Skirt 1.1

 

I finally sat down this weekend and made my first skirt. Its cute, but unfortunately I think I made a size too large, Peter looked at me when I tried it on and said "is it supposed to be that baggy?" - well no its not. I thought I had measured myself so well too! It fits around the hips alright, but I have a feeling that its supposed to fit around the waist... But because its too large rather than too small, its fixable right?

Thats not even the worst of it. I was so proud of myself that the zipper went in so flawlessly, only to discover that I put it in backwards! Sigh.

Oh, and Anai?  You were totally right about the darts....front darts SO not flattering....you'll help me fix it won't you??

CZ on Sunday

I'm so excited that Clotilde of Chocolate and Zucchini is coming to town on Sunday for her book signing. I didn't even realized it was released, but absolutely must have a copy. The signing is at the Ferry Building, so its not like the wait will be unpleasant....Peter tells me that he and Blu will go eat oysters while I wait, sigh.

The last stretch

Its been a while.

there have been so many bits and pieces that I've wanted to post about, but I've been stretched a little thin...projects, papers, the quilt show [whose pictures I haven't gotten to yet], 3 baby molars, a cold and visiting family over Mother's Day weekend [which was wonderful, but really really bad timing...sorry everyone, next year I'm going into isolation when I have a deadline like that.....].
my sewing machine is buried under a stack of papers and cords....I look longingly at it everyonce in awhile but thats as far as its gone.
Today, being Saturday, we took a bit of a reprieve and struck gold at the farmer's market.

I didn't get enough last week, and tried unsuccessfuly to hoard my apricots. This time I definitely got enough, apricots, apriums, white peaches and a tiny bit of cherries....they taste like sunshine.

With all the stress recently, I was needing something idiot proof to knit - even socks were too complicated. The solution? a summer scarf for Blu [yes its that cold], pure mind-numbing garter stitch on large needles....

It will all be over soon...
2 tests, 1 paper and then?
..Summer.

popping in...

I'm having a rough week. Its crunch time on several fronts, and I'm feeling a bit stressed, not to mention that things just seem to keep going wrong... (will this semester never end???)

So, I'm here....but I'm very far away mentally from any sort of crafting. Hopefully summer comes soon.

The exciting news is...that I'm going to Quilt Market in Salt Lake City this weekend. I'm going to source fabrics for the shop. It should be fun, and if nothing else I will have isolation to work on my 10 page paper due on Monday. This will also be the first time away from Blu for more than 7 or 8 hours. We shall see how it goes, we are trying to use this as our oppurtunity to wean her.....
I'll take lots of pictures, I promise. But no posting until next week is over, its going to be worse than this one.....
