an earthquake woke us up early this morning. the bed just seemed to tilt one way and then the other, and the whole house seemed to shiver and groan. surprisingly Blu just turned over in her sleep and didn't wake. but I was up for a long time afterwards.
the quake turned out only to be a 4.2 and centered about 25 miles east of us. Peter told me that it was because our house is an old wooden victorian that it shook so, and that would be a good thing in a larger quake because a brick or cement house would just crumble. of course there was no damage in the city, but somehow I still felt a little surprised to be walking down the street this morning with the sunshine and city activity, it was like it never happened at all. to me that is the most disturbing thing about earthquakes, the lack of warning. with other natural 'disasters' fires, storms, volcanos...you can kind of see them coming; but an earthquake is just suddenly there. it also feels like the world is a bit off, as the ground - which we take for granted as being stable and unmoving - moves about.
it makes me nervous, but i'm sure to forget about it tomorrow.
otherwise (and this is really geeky) , do you know what day it is?
The last Harry Potter comes out tonight! We finally get to find out whether he lives or dies in the 'final battle'.
i doubt i'll rush out at 12:01 to buy the book (well, maybe) but i do find it interesting the amount of anticipation surrounding this release. surely this is one of the biggest book releases in history, as so many millions of fans around the world have been following this for years. even if the book turns out to be horrid, the author is going to make soo much money on it. do you have a prediction on whats going to happen? personally i think that hermione dies (she's just to good to be true), harry dies but is brought back to life, snape does something to redeem himself and draco turns back to the light.
